North Peru Archaeological Wonders

 

INTRODUCTION:
The program is basically a trip to the North Coast and Central Andes of Peru. The departure starts in Lima heading north and visiting a great diversity of Archaeological Centers. The principal objective is to get to see all these pre-Inca sites, that not many person get to it. Here on this trip you will visit these pre-Inca Cultures such as: Caral "The oldest settlement in America"; Sechin Culture in Casma; Chavin "Mother Culture of the Andean Civilization" near by Huaraz and Moche Culture, Chimu Culture in Trujillo.
The trip is made on local transportation making it a great adventure since you will travel in different vehicles according to its need. The accommodation is in a 3** Stars Hostel or a 2*** Stars Hostel, according to your requirement. The meals are on your own.
This way it makes you participate closer to the local people and travel more secure, since you have a personal assistance of a professional trip leader guide.

Description of the Program:

NORTH PERU ARCHAEOLOGICAL WONDERS
5 DAYS - 4 NIGHTS

Day 01.- Tour to Caral. Transfer to Casma.
Leaving from Lima on a Bus to the North (aprox. 3 hours). Visit to Caral, The Circular Plaza of the Mayor Pyramid, constructed 5,000 years, is the symbol of the political power and religious of the first Peruvian state. The Tour lasts approximately 2 hours, visiting the Amphitheater, Pyramid of La Huaca, Minor Pyramid, Mayor Pyramid, Main Plaza and Residential area, etc. Continuing to Casma. Overnight.

Day 02.- Tour to Sechin. Transfer to Huaraz.
Visit to the home of the great warriors of the Casma Valley, the site has art of sculptures on stone. The under relief motifs represent the human drama of the war. Continuing to Huaraz. Overnight.

Day 03.- Tour to Chavin. Transfer to Trujillo.
Departure from Huaraz to the Chavin Archaeological site. Here you will see the Square Plaza, the Doorway of the Falcons, the Oracle of the Lanzon of Chavin, etc. Return to Huaraz. Night bus ride to Trujillo.

Day 04.- Tour to the Huaca of the Sun and the Moon, Chan Chan, Huanchaco Beach and the Huaca of Arco Iris (Rainbow).
The visit to the Huaca of the Moon that belongs to the Moche Culture, it will start in the Museum to continue to the Huaca which has painted murals of the main god of Ai-Apayec or Decapitator, with patios that have murals of ceremonies and daily life representations.
Continuing to Chan Chan, the capital of the Chimu's Kingdom and considered as "the biggest Mud City of the World". You will see Ceremonial squares, the Fish and Birds corridor, small temples, a ceremonial well, niches hall that the decoration is varied, there are relief's of stylized pelicans, sea birds, fish, fishing nets with square form and circles. The Museum exhibits diverse original objects found in Chan Chan and scale models that allow you to get a better idea about the form and use of the citadels of the city. Visit to the Huanchaco Beach to see the Caballitos de Totora (Reed boats) or Totora Horses that are use by the local fishermen and a good place to take a rest.
Afterwards continues the visit to the Huaca of Arco Iris, which the decoration was dedicated to the Rainbow as a simbol of fertility and rain. Under each rainbow you can see a couple of snakes, one of them has two heads and another one finishes in a fish tail, perhaps, a representation of the two sexes: female and male. Return to Trujillo. Overnight.

Day 05.- Departure from Trujillo back to Lima. Arrival and transfer to your Hotel.
